As promised in my last post, here’s this post about how you can become a Mommy Blogger and in a week’s time, check if you can take up blogging as a full-time career option for you. To begin with let me share my story here:
My story of becoming a Mommy Blogger
I always wanted to write but could not spare time in pursuing this hobby – because of studies, job, laziness, etc. But on one fine day, I thought of sharing my parenting story on mycity4kids.com and you know what, in a week’s time, my first post got 60k+ views and people liked my story. They related with the story, commented on it and shared it further. I was so thrilled and moved by the response I got from the platform that in a month’s time, I purchased my domain name (digimother). Then, I used to write one or two posts in a month; mostly about motherhood experiences and almost all of my posts would get good views. One day, I got a call from MC4K team to write a paid post for Odonil. This call boosted my confidence further and I started becoming more serious about taking up blogging as a full-time career option. Though, I had purchased the domain name but I did not do anything with it. I wanted some professional help to create a simple and classy blog for me. So I approached my ex-boss for helping me in setting up the blog. He agreed to do this for me, for I used to be their dedicated employee. Then I got the basic set up done for my blog from them (however some things are still pending to be done but I am happy that I am getting my site done from the experts). I started blogging on MC4K in September, 2015 and since then, I have been a part of their four bloggers’ meet and have done paid assignments for brands like J&J, Nestle, Dettol, Odonil, Dabur and Pampers. I consider myself fortunate for being a part of this wonderful platform. I believe it helped me in finding the right career direction, and given me the required confidence. And made me a ‘Mommy Blogger’ and a ‘Mompreneur’ that I am today.
To give you more insight of MC4K platform, I approached some of the fellow mommy bloggers to share their experience with the site. Here’s what they said:
Mandavi Jaiswal says:
“Before I became a SAHM, I used to run a hyperlocal start-up which I had co-founded. Having put the start-up on the backburner, when I took to writing, my sole goal was to keep my grey cells active and not drown myself into mundane household tasks. Writing helped me get into the details of the matter, when readers wrote back “I agree with you” again and again I became more sure of myself as a parent. It helped me understand that I was on the right track. I think Mycity4kids is the best platform for mothers to start their writing journey. You get an instant access to their vast reader base, interesting stories get the attention of their social media community and you work with the most polite and efficient backend support team. So go ahead, there is no other way to start writing than to actually do it.”
Geethica Mehra says:
“My Blogging journey was gaining pace when I used to flip my FB page and often comes across MC4K articles liked by my friends. Once I thought to read one and decided to write my feelings also with the website. Gradually, I got the response from other bloggers here. I also liked their stories and real life experiences. It was good to know that there are many ladies who feel like you. One of my articles got into the most popular category LESSONS I LEARNED FROM MY HUSBAND. Gaining some confidence I started writing my own blogs and somehow stopped writing for MC4K as I felt I need to grow further. I was searching for different contents to write about. But as destiny has it for you, last November only I got a call from MC4K offering me a sponsored post. I did it and got paid. And now I am again connected with MC4K for my career has many opportunities to hop on from here.”
Deepa Gandhi says:
“My blogging journey started with mycity4kids and I am glad that I wrote for them. I learnt so much from them as a blogger and a writer. If you want to write and not sure where to start from… mycity is the best place to start. It is a great platform for moms as you get readers who give you feedback and mycity team is always there to guide you too.”
Akshata Ramesh says:
“After I had my baby, I came across mycity4kids and was intrigued by their posts. On a whim I penned down my baby’s birth story and it received quite a good response. One thing led to another I found myself eager to write on varied topics and post them. My posts usually did very well; I received fabulous response from readers and so many followers. There were trolls as well of course but that did not deter me given higher percentage of responses were encouraging. I also got some sponsored assignments and goodies. It helped me connect with so many moms and I absolutely love the experience. I love my dual identity of a CA and writer.”

About my venture DigiMother.com
It’s been 2.5 years since I left my job and today, I am not at all guilty of being called ‘job-less’ because now, I am my own boss, who is working from the comfort of home. Yes, I am not getting fixed amount credited monthly in my bank account but I think as a mom blogger, I am on a roller-coaster ride, which is giving me some great highs and downs (in terms of money). The more efforts I put in, the better returns I get or sometimes, I am just plain lucky in getting new projects. As a Mompreneur, I am learning new things on daily basis and I try to give my best shot in the available time. It is bit challenging to work-from-home with a toddler running around you (sometimes I wonder what was I thinking when I decided working-from-home). But I guess it’s the best thing that I can do for my baby and for myself; balancing the multiple roles. Presently, I hardly get to spend 15-20 hours/ week on my blog (due to time-constraints) but at least I am active on the professional front and making something out of my blog. Starting this month, I am planning to share 3 posts/ week and I would definitely figure out some ways to spend some more time in blogging. Also, as I mentioned in my earlier post that I will be sharing my blogging journey through a series of posts and it will be shared as I learn something new – tips, tricks, new blog monetization platforms, influencer marketing techniques, etc. So come and let’s join me by subscribing to my blog and get the next post right in your inbox!
