My baby’s teething story
I was scared listening to others’ teething stories – the uncontrollable loose-motions and crankiness that a baby goes through during teething time. And how bad a mother feels and gets tired of cleaning and soothing the little bundles. But let me tell you, I did not face such problems during my daughter’s teething days. Even I feel fortunate that this phase passed so smoothly and recently, I counted that my naughty girl has grown 18 white pearls in her mouth.
Okay, so you must be wondering how did it happen? Was I plain lucky or did I use some magic potion for her? I just paid some heed to my neighbour aunty, who used to give some sweet white colour tabs to her granddaughter; she advised me to give the same tabs to my daughter before her teething starts. The name of these tabs is ‘Calcarea Phosphorica’ and these are homeopathy tabs, hence no side-effects. Though I consulted my paediatrician before giving it to my daughter and she said it is completely harmless for the baby. On Googling, I found – It is a useful common homeopathic medicine. It is a compound of calcium and phosphorus (phosphate of lime) and useful in keeping bones and teeth healthy. Calc Phos can be given to infants and kids for supporting growth and teething. Calcarea Phosphorica is excellent medicine to treat teething problems in infants. It is also useful in making bones stronger.
Some memories from our childhood days
I also remember during our childhood days that my mother used to give same tabs to my younger sister and how I would also pop some two or three tabs in my mouth because of its sweet taste. (There are some mischievous incidences in your childhood that you can’t erase from your memory.) I started giving these tabs in a dose as suggested on the bottle and my daughter liked its taste. I guess she was 6-7 months old at that time; her teething process started little late. There is nothing much that I did for her to make her teething easier. She hardly used any teether. I never massaged her gums with honey. But yes, I breastfed her for more than a year and I still, remember her bites on my hands and nipples!
